Summer’s Lease

photoShall I compare thee to a summer’s day? . . . Yet summer’s lease hath all too short a lease.

Perhaps I’m alone in finding butterflies melancholy figures as they dance along the blooms, but their fragile beauty and looping flight always make me a trifle sad that their lives are so short.

Anyway, this lovely yellow swallowtail has been hanging around my garden for a few days and finally granted me the honor of capturing his likeness in focus. . . and for posterity.
